Netflix & Koala: April

APRIL?! What is this, a year for ants? Seriously though, we’re nearly a third of the way through the year and feel like all we’ve accomplished is nailing Netflix & Koala each month.. and we’re not even complaining. April is chockas full of new series, continuing weekly episodes of some of our favourites (HEY RIVERDALE!) and some classic movies for the Easter holiday season.

Casting JonBenet: This hybrid documentary-thriller follows the story of the communities that experienced the tragedy of Jon Benet Ramsay’s murder in 1996. The unsolved murder mystery looks at the feelings, emotions and reactions of the people that grew up with the shocking crime.

Bill Nye Saves the World: Need we say more for this?! If you love Bill Nye (who doesn’t?!), your favourite science buff is once again gracing our screens, this time exploring a range of interesting scientific issues. From Fad diets to space exploration, Billy Nye is joined on screen by guests for myth busting and multiple lab demos. If you’re in the mood for entertainment AND education, then this is the winning combo for you!

13 Reason Why: Do you get easily addicted to Netflix series? Love a good mystery? WARNING, you won’t be able to stop watching possibly our favourite series… EVER. It follows high school student Clay Jensen, who receives 13 mysterious tapes from a girl who committed suicide. His mission is to uncover the 13 reasons why she ended her life, and it’s an extremely interesting story. Anyone who has watches this series is already fully addicted, and it’s one that we suggest a good binge on!

Happy Gilmore: If you’ve been living under a rock, and haven’t seen Happy Gilmore, you should probably be questioning your life priorities right now… but seriously, this cult classic with Adam Sandler is some of his finest work. It follows the journey of adult Billy Madison, who in order to inherit his fed up father’s hotel empire, must repeat grades 1-12 all over again. It’s hilarious and super quotable, so make sure you watch this one with friends.

Disney’s Finding Dory: Missed the Finding Nemo sequel at the movies? Don’t fret, so did we. But thanks to the Netflix Gods, we’ll be enjoying this gem from the comfort of our own Koalas. The movie follows Dory’s journey (with the help of Nemo & Marvin) to find her parents, the only thing she can remember from her childhood. This proves to be a difficult task as Dory has extreme memory loss, and you’ll just have to watch if the reunion really does happy! This is one for the whole family, and we suggest pairing it with blue jelly because #underthesea.

Small Crimes: If you loved Nicolai Coster-Waldau in Game of Thrones (as Jamie Lannister), you’ll love him even more in the new series, Small Crimes. He plays a disgraced former cop who is imprisoned for 6 years for attempted murder. When he returns home, he finds it much harder to get back to normality than he thought, thanks to a few shady people from the past. This is a real nail-biter and another show you won’t be able to stop watching.
