Netflix & Koala: May

We don’t mean to scare you.. but IT IS MAY ALREADY! We have no idea how we got here, but let’s just all embrace it and try to enjoy the colder weather, darker nights and freezing mornings… HA! If there’s one thing that May brings, it’s a plethora of wonderful Netflix goodies that we’ve had our eye on for quite a while.Let’s take a look at what Netflix Australia is offering this May 2017:

Into the Wild: If you cry at the drop of the hat, get your tissues ready for this biographical drama survival film, that is written, co-produced and directed by Sean Penn. Follow the journey of Christopher McCandless across North America, and how he fights the very basic instincts of survival in the Alaskan wilderness. If you’ve ever been one of those people who has asked “What is the actual meaning of life?” or ever wondered what it would be like to live in total isolation, you cannot give this a miss!

Anne with an E: Fan of the Anne of Green Gables books? Let Netflix take you back to the classic novel with their reimagined series. Anne with an E shares the story of Anne, who is mistakenly sent to live on a farm in the late 1890s. Follow Anne’s adventures and watch as she grows, learns and shares her own thoughts throughout the series. This series remains lighthearted, but also focuses on important topical issues like feminism, identity and bullying throughout it. Perfect for a Mother’s Day binge with mum, or paired with a hot cuppa and the willingness to see the world through Anne’s eyes.

A Good Marriage: Rejoice Stephen King fans, for one of your favourite novels has been transformed into a psychological thriller. Signature to King’s novella, A Good Marriage encapsulates King’s mordant humour and shares some very dark moments on screen. The movie follows Darcy, (played by Joan Allen) who after 25 years of marriage finds out that her husband is harbouring a deep, dark secret. Watch as Darcy realises she must take some extreme measure to protect her grown children from the sinister secret.

House of Cards Season 5: If you haven’t watched the first 4 seasons of House of Cards, have you really lived at all? Seriously though, this phenomenal series left us on the biggest cliff-hanger and our whole office has been eagerly discussing it and theorising what the heck is going to happen in the opening episode. If you haven’t found time to watch the first 4 seasons, PLEASE MAKE THE TIME! House of Cards will absolutely blow your mind, from the polarising political angsts to the revealing relationships, this series is our number one choice for the month. Get ready for a binge and have snacks, water and plenty of friends ready to discuss and dissect season 5!

The Day after Tomorrow: Think action, adventure, sci-fi and classic ‘end of the world’ stuff. The Day After Tomorrow will fulfil of your needs, and with a cast consisting of Dennis Quaid, Jake Gyllenhaal and Emmy Rossum, you can’t go wrong. The movie follows the story of Jack Hall, a paleoclimatologist who must make an epic trek across America to reach his son. The only problem? An international storm is raging across the planet and has plunged the world into a new Ice Age.

UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT SEASON 3: If you’re after a super easy laugh and a show that you’ll accidentally binge on, then look no further than this Netflix original series. Kimmy’s just your average girl… except she spent a large chunk of her life living in a bunker and now has no idea how to handle actual society. In season 3, we watch as Kimmy attempts to save for college and then when she gets there, she struggles even more to fit in. An incredible easy series to watch, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt should be on everyone’s Netflix & Koala list this May
