Let’s face it, in this day and age, there seems to be an obsession with being busy.

The alarm goes off. Before you even jump out of bed you grab your iphone, and start checking off your to do list. Your morning routine might involve getting the kids, ready for school, rushing through peak hour traffic, getting through a ton of emails squeezing in some exercise all the above, and more.

It’s easy to get caught up in the rat race, and forget the one that is sleeping right beside you: your partner.

Too busy to pay attention

The unfortunate thing is when you are in auto pilot, and neglecting to connect with your partner this can leave them feeling lonely, isolated and you could gradually drift apart as a couple.

It’s no wonder marriage statistics are in the toilet with over 50% of marriages ending in divorce, a further 10-15% of people separate without filing paper work, and 7% live chronically unhappy.

Good news is you can prevent being a statistic, and can stay connected with your partner in a loving happy relationship.

So, if you’ve ever wondered what those cute couples that seem to be so in love are doing then, read on!

The strength of a good morning

Did you know the morning is the best time to connect with your partner?

It sets the tone for the rest of the day, strengthens your relationship, and keeps the love going strong!  Keeping the two of you closely connected and in each other’s thoughts.

Here are some top morning rituals to improve your relationship.

Enjoy The Simple Pleasures

It’s true, the simple things are often the best. Start the day together.  Bring your partner a delicious tea or coffee in bed so that you can wake up gradually together.

You might even want to start the by showering together, you can wash his back, and he can wash yours. Spice it up with scented essential oils after all smell is a powerful aphrodisiac.

Connect intimately with eye contact. A study conducted by American Social Psychologist, Zick Rubin in 1970 found that the average conversation maintains eye contact for 30-60% of the time, whereas couples in love maintain eye contact for 75% of the time, and rarely break it. Eye contact is a powerful stimulator of igniting the feeling of falling in love. So, gaze away to boost your love and connection!

Tell your partner what you appreciate about them.

Positive psychology research has been found that gratitude plays a huge role in happiness, and keeping you connected. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, improves your health, helps you deal with stress, and build strong relationships. Couples who practise gratitude are more satisfied in their relationships, feel closer to each other and are more likely to stay together.

When it comes to gratitude be thankful for the things your partner does, who they are and their traits. Tell your partner what you love and appreciate about them and watch your relationship blossom as you start the day off fresh!

Hug And A Kiss

This little morning routine can make your relationship happier. Studies have found that physical affection is directly related to greater relationship satisfaction.  As little as a 20 second morning hug releases oxytocin the love hormone which has many benefits including a decrease in heart rate, drop in the stress hormones cortisol, and norepinephrine.

Hugging is an incredible way to bond with your partner, and boost your own physical, and emotional health. Studies have found that couples that hug more are happier, and have deeper connections.

Take a morning walk together.

A beautiful morning ritual is to take a walk together. It clears the mind, wakes up the body, and kicks in the endorphins, and give you the opportunity to talk and connect. A morning walk allows you to feel like team, you can spend the morning solving problems, building dreams, and setting goals.

Walk hand in hand, gaze into each other’s eyes, and tell your partner what makes them special to you. Take a morning walk a few times a week it’s one of the most meaningful ways to connect, and you can combine some tips from above to make it even more powerful.
