NEW YEAR, NEW YOU RIGHT?! As long as that doesn’t mean ditching your Netflix & Koala habit of course. That was obviously Netflix’s attitude when they released the lineup for January, because it’s a real beauty. Loads of original shows, with a few series we’ve been patiently (OK SO COUNTING DOWN THE HOURS, BUT EVERYONE DOES THAT RIGHT) waiting for. Here are the fantastic excuses to escape the heat and cram yourself in an air-conned room this summer:
A Series of Unfortunate Events: Neil Patrick Harris. That’s all we have to say. Seriously, we’re hoping that you’ve read the books, or at least seen the film with Jim Carey. This series follows the three Baudelaire children, who after losing their parents in a fire, face hard times and weird relatives. Did we mention NEIL PATRICK HARRIS?! Write down the date in your diary (Jan 13th to be exact) and get ready for laughter, tears and most of all, many “what the heck?!” moments.
Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments, Season 2: The long awaited season 2 of this American fantasy series is here for anyone and everyone that loves vampires, werewolves, fairies and shadowhunters. Based on the original book, The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, the second season has 20 episodes that will be ready to go. This is an easy binge, and as long as you’ve got popcorn and you’re snuggled in bed, you’ll absolutely fly through this series.
The Jungle Book: Forget about your worries and your strifes, for the Jungle Book has been brought back to life! A remake of the 1967 animated film, this classic features Bill Murray, Neel Sethi, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o and Scarlet Johannson in a complete CGI remake. The film has been highly successful, and it’s little wonder that we’re SO EXCITED FOR THIS ONE!
Freaky Friday: Can we get a heckkk yeah?! Just the most EPIC childhood throwback movie is here to be watched, and if you haven’t seen Freaky Friday yet then you need to get onto this ASAP. Starring Lindsay Lohan & Jamie Lee Curtis, it tells the tale of mother and daughter who magically swap bodies and the story of how they cope with handling each other’s lives. It’s a hilariously classic comedy that the whole family will love.
Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice: If you’re one of the small number of people that didn’t make it to the movies to see this film, you need to make this a priority. It was one of the most hyped up films of 2016, and with a running time of 3h it definitely doesn’t disappoint. If you’re looking for a movie to really invest a few hours into, then this is the one for you.
